Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of more than a hundred cannabinoids in cannabis. CBD is an extract of the hemp plant. There have been a wide range of benefits and uses discovered for CBD over the years. Because CBD is non-psychoactive, it won’t make you high.

How does CBD work?

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that occur naturally in the human body, and actively interact with cannabinoid receptors located throughout the human body. When CBD binds to these receptors, it triggers various physiological actions that help to regulate your appetite, pain sensation, mood, and memory

What is the difference between Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum CBD?

  • Full-spectrum CBD: Full-spectrum CBD contains small amounts of all components of the cannabis plant. That means it can have trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Federally legal full-spectrum products will always have less than 0.3 percent THC. Although non-psychoactive, full-spectrum CBD can give you a false positive during a drug test, especially if you consume high doses of CBD oil daily. That’s when the broad-spectrum CBD comes in.
  • Broad-spectrum CBD: This type of CBD does not contain THC. It does contain other components of the cannabis plant, though, so it won’t be 100-percent CBD alone. You still get the entourage effect of all the beneficial substances in the hemp plant, but with 0.0 percent THC.
  • All of Appalachian CBD products are Broad Spectrum.

How is Appalachian CBD manufactured?

Appalachian CBD products are medical grade, cultivated and manufactured in the United States, and formulated to promote maximum absorption of CBD. Appalachian CBD follows the FDA's Good Manufacturing Practices and the USDA's guidelines from seed to sale. The plants used to make the products are the highest purity, organic, naturally grown, non-GMO hemp.

Do any of your CBD products have THC? Will I get high?

No. All of our CBD products are broad spectrum from industrial hemp. This means they contain 0.0% THC (the substance in marijuana that gets you high) and will not get you high.

What is the “Entourage Effect”?

The entourage effect is used to describe what happens when multiple compounds from the industrial hemp plant work together. These components work together to enhance the potential benefits of the plant, with each compound amplifying the therapeutic properties of the others while mitigating their potential side effects. Though the impact of this effect has not yet been validated through clinical studies, this synergistic interaction is believed to increase the potential for therapeutic effect.

What dosage should I take?

Everyone is unique and the fact remains that everyone is in a different place and will react differently to their CBD dosage. As dosage of CBD differs for each person, it is best to start small and gradually increase at a comfortable level until you experience the desired result.

Will I fail a drug test is I use Appalachian CBD?

Different labs tend to have different testing protocols, so if this is of major concern, we recommend that you visit www.appalachian-cbd.com, download the Certificate of Analysis (COA) for the appropriate Appalachian CBD product, then share it with the lab that administers your drug test to get an answer you can trust.

Who shouldn't take CBD products?

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: There is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking products containing cannabidiol if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should avoid taking CBD products like Appalachian CBD.
  • Parkinson’s disease: Cannabidiol may make muscle movement and tremors worse in people with Parkinson’s disease. Therefore, CBD products like Appalachian CBD should be avoided in patients with Parkinson’s.
  • History of hypersensitivity to cannabidiols or any of the ingredients in the product

Has any real research been done on the benefits of CBD?

Yes, lots of research has been done on the effects and benefits of Cannabidiol (CBD). But, don't take our word for it! I recommend looking at the research on the National Library of Medicine for literature written by scientists, not CBD companies.

Is CBD legal?

After the US Federal government passed the Farm Bill in December 2018, it was taken off of the list of controlled substances and moved to the regulation of the FDA, instead of the DEA. This makes CBD legal as long as it is sourced from industrial hemp and does not contain more than 0.3% THC.

What is Delta 8-THC?

Delta 8-THC or Delta 8-Tetrahydrocannabinol is a new, cutting edge cannabinoid (derived from Hemp) which carries psychoactive effects and euphoric feelings associated with the typical properties associated with cannabis use. Additionally, Delta 8-THC is known for its anti-nausea, anti-anxiety, appetite stimulating and stress reducing properties.

What is Delta 9-THC?

Delta 9-THC or Delta 9-Tetrahydrocannabinol is the traditional version of THC and is the active ingredient in the Marijuana plant. This cannabinoid is responsible for the psychoactive effects experienced after consuming a marijuana product and is currently federally illegal and illegal in most states.

What is the difference in Delta 8-THC and Delta 9-THC?

The main difference in Delta 8-THC and Delta 9-THC is federal and state legality. Delta 8-THC is fully federally legal and legal 38 states, while Delta 9-THC is federally illegal and illegal in most states. Both Delta 8-THC and Delta 9-THC produce euphoric psychoactive effects on users and carry a wide variety of medical and recreational benefits.

What makes Delta 8-THC the superior form of THC?

Delta 8-THC is superior to the traditional and illegal Delta 9-THC because it carries basically every benefit and effect of Delta 9-THC but is fully federally legal and legal in 38 states in the United States.

How is Delta 8-THC legal to produce and sell in the USA?

Since products contain only Delta 8-THC made from 100% Hemp extract, companies are able to fully legally manufacture, distribute and sell to consumers in the United States. Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, ratified and signed into law in December 2018, Cannabis containing less than 0.3% Delta 9-THC is legally classified as Hemp and thus is legal for all intents and purposes under federal law. Let’s also not forget, THC itself isn’t federally illegal, only specifically Delta 9-THC is.

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

The difference in CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is that CBD doesn’t carry the psychoactive effects that THC does. CBD can be used for numerous health reasons, but it will never give the consumer the psychoactive effects that Delta 8 and Delta 9 would provide. THC carries most, if not all benefits of CBD, but also introduces the “high” euphoric feeling which can be hugely beneficial for many users.

What does “Hemp Derived THC” mean?

“Hemp Derived THC” means that the THC is entirely produced from Hemp. Under the 2018 Farm Bill, which clarifies that “Hemp” is any cannabis plant containing less than 0.3% Delta 9-THC, Hemp is federally legal for all purposes under federal law. Marijuana or any cannabis plant containing more than 0.3% Delta 9-THC is not used in any “Hemp Derived THC” product.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you will reach out to your state lawmakers to demand change!

How old do you have to be to purchase Delta 8-THC?

While there are no federal regulations setting the minimum age required to purchase Delta 8-THC, there are several state regulations mandating that consumers must be 21 years or older to purchase. For this reason, you must be 21 years or older to purchase any products both online and in store.

Is it legal to have Delta 8-THC sent through the mail?

Absolutely, Delta 8-THC can be sent through the United States Postal Service (USPS) legally. Thanks to a clarification published in the USPS regulations, Hemp products (just like Delta 8-THC) can safely and legally be shipped within the United States.
